Help & FAQ
General FAQs
Every SILKE London product is made from the highest grade 6A long-fibre, 100% pure mulberry silk in a rich 22 momme weight. This premium fabric is denser, smoother, and more durable than alternatives - giving lasting protection while helping hair and skin retain their natural hydration.
The rich 22 momme weight means more silk threads per inch - denser, smoother, and more durable than lighter alternatives. When combined with the highest grade 6A long-fibre mulberry silk, it creates a fabric that not only delivers visible results for your hair and skin night after night, but also stands the test of time.
Yes. Every SILKE product is crafted from OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 certified silk, which means it has been independently tested against more than 1,000 harmful substances. This ensures the fabric we use is not only the finest quality, but also safe, gentle, and suitable for daily use on both hair and skin.
SILKE Hair Wrap FAQs
Yes - the wrap is designed to benefit all hair types and textures, from fine to thick, short to long, straight to curly and coily.
Many notice smoother, glossier hair after the first night. With consistent use, expect reduced breakage, stronger strands and healthier growth within weeks.
The SILKE Hair Wrap is made from 100% pure silk, so it requires delicate care to maintain its quality.
- Dry clean, or hand wash in cold to lukewarm water using a gentle pH-neutral detergent, or add a few drops of vinegar as a natural alternative.
- Rinse thoroughly, then roll gently in a clean towel to absorb excess water.
- Hang to air dry in the shade.
To protect the integrity of the silk:
- Do not soak, boil, bleach, wring, or leave the wrap crumpled in a towel.
- We strictly advise against machine washing, as this will damage the fibres.
A pillowcase is great for skin, but the wrap is more targeted for hair. By fully encasing your strands, it prevents frizz, tangling and breakage, and helps distribute natural oils from root to tip.
One size fits all head sizes XS-XL (20-26” / 50-66cm), with an elasticated band that adapts comfortably to every shape. There’s enough depth to accommodate all lengths and volumes of hair.
It doesn’t matter - both sides of our silk are equally smooth and protective. We’ve chosen to keep the shiny side on the outside for a more polished look.
Arrange your hair so it’s easy to scoop inside, then slip the wrap on so the elasticated silk edge is completely covering your hairline and the tip of your ears. Make sure all hair is tucked in to keep it secure through the night.
Ways to wear:
- Twist into a bun at the crown for subtle morning waves.
- Pineapple to extend the life of curls.
- Tuck under for shorter styles.

A tip from our founder, Maria Sotiriou:
“Your hair may need a little adjustment as it recovers from dehydration and damage. If you notice a few kinks at first, simply smooth them with warm air - over time, your hair will become stronger, rehydrated, and full of body, with the strength to resist them naturally.”
No - the wrap is designed to be worn on dry hair only.
Consistent nightly use delivers the best results - and most customers find they never want to sleep without it again.
- Fine hair: Prevents breakage, encourages thickness and growth.
- Curly & coily hair: Retains essential moisture, boosts definition, bounce and shine.
- Hair extensions: Protects bonds and reduces tangling.
- General hair loss/alopecia: Minimises nightly friction and protects delicate regrowth.
- Post-chemotherapy hair: Creates the ideal environment for fragile new growth.
Everyday styling products won’t damage the silk, but we don’t recommend applying heavy oils or wet treatments before use. The SILKE method is about letting your hair’s natural oils do the conditioning work.
No. Silk is naturally breathable and temperature-regulating, so it keeps you cool and comfortable.
Synthetic satin may look smooth but doesn’t offer the same results. It often traps heat, absorbs moisture, and lacks durability. Pure silk is breathable, hydrating, and protective - giving you healthier, shinier hair night after night.
SILKE Heatless Curler FAQs
Yes - it’s designed to hold and style all hair types and textures, from fine to thick, and short to long.
Start with hair that is around 95% dry. Place the curler on top of your head, then wrap even sections of hair around the foam towards your face. Secure each end with a SILKE Hair Tie or Scrunchie, and leave to set.
- Overnight: For best results, wear while you sleep - the foam core is designed for comfort.
- Daytime: Curls will also form in as little as 30 minutes to 2 hours, depending on hair type.
Results vary depending on your hair type and texture. Some people notice curls forming within a couple of hours, while others achieve best results by leaving the curler in overnight. For the most defined finish, start with hair that’s around 95% dry.
Big, bouncy curls that can be customised:
- For tighter curls: Use smaller sections and wrap closely.
- For larger curls: Use bigger sections.
For relaxed waves: Space out your wrapping.
Typically 1-3 days, depending on your hair type and routine. Preserve them longer with the SILKE Hair Wrap between washes.
The curling rod is 90cm. The foam core has an optimum diameter of 2.5cm - wide enough to deliver bouncy curls and waves, while remaining flexible, durable, and comfortable for overnight use.
No. The SILKE Heatless Curler contains no wires, rods or sponges. This means no risk of kinks, marks, or discomfort while you style or sleep.
The curler works beautifully without products, but using a little mousse, curl cream or setting spray can boost hold. To preserve your curls for longer, we recommend wrapping your hair in the SILKE Hair Wrap overnight after styling.
Yes. The soft, flexible foam is specifically designed for overnight wear, with no wires or lumps to disturb your sleep.
This is a matter of personal preference. The Heatless Curler doesn’t require the Hair Wrap to create curls, but if you’d like to add extra protection or keep hair in place, you may wear them together.
Synthetic satin may look smooth but is often made from polyester. It can absorb moisture, cause dryness, and lose shape quickly. Pure silk is naturally breathable, moisture-retaining and protective, giving you healthier, shinier curls without damage.
Spot clean the silk with a damp cloth and gentle pH-neutral detergent if needed. Do not soak or machine wash, as this may damage both the silk and the foam. Always allow to air dry naturally straight.

We recommend hand-washing in cold to lukewarm water with a gentle silk-safe detergent, or machine-washing on a delicate cycle inside a laundry bag. Air dry flat and cool iron if needed. Avoid bleach, fabric softener, or tumble drying, which can damage the silk fibres. SILKE Hair Ties & Scrunchie FAQs
Yes - they’re designed to suit every texture, from fine and straight to thick, curly, or coily. The strong elastic core provides reliable hold, while the silk covering keeps hair smooth and damage-free.
Yes. The durable elastic inside grips securely, while the silk outer prevents slipping or snagging - even on heavy or long hair.
They’re built to last. The elastic is protected by its silk outer, so they keep their shape far longer than standard elastics. Like all hair ties, they may loosen slightly with regular use.
No. The silk outer cushions your strands, so hair is left smooth, shiny, and crease-free when you let it down.
Hand wash gently with a silk-safe detergent and air dry. This preserves the softness of the silk and the strength of the elastic, keeping them in perfect condition.
