How To Hit Your Hair Goals In Time For Summer
Dreaming of gorgeously healthy, shiny and strong hair this summer? Much like achieving your fitness goals, your summer hair goals can be built throughout the winter.
Our founder, and pro hairdresser with over 30 years of experience, Maria Sotiriou, shares four of her top tips to achieving the ultimate summer hair.
1. Never skip heat protector
It’s tempting in the colder months to just pop that hairdryer on as soon as possible, but Maria insists that heat protector is a non-negotiable all year around.
This comes in two forms; a cream or a spray. Maria recommends choosing a cream for freshly washed, ready to blow-dry hair, and then a spray for styling top ups using heated tools throughout the week.
Better yet, skip the heated tools and use our SILKE Heatless Curler to style your hair instead!
2. Don’t overwash
It’s tempting to opt for that ‘freshly washed’ feeling every day, but over-washing your hair can cause unnecessary damage. It strips the hair and scalp of its natural oils, which can lead to hair loss.
Instead, wear a SILKE Hair Wrap nightly, which will help reduce your washing to once a week.
Introducing this habit into your routine won’t only boost the health and hydration of your hair, but will prolong the life of your blow-dry.
3. Choose the correct hairbrush
Maria recommends ditching metal or ceramic brushes and instead, opting for boar bristle brushes. They tend to be much gentler on the hair, allowing the strands to pass between the bristles without causing damage and tugging.
For those who don’t tend to brush their hair between washes (looking at you curly girls), wearing your SILKE Hair Wrap nightly you’re also going to wake up with less of a tangly bedhead.
4. Exfoliate your scalp
A healthy scalp means healthy hair! Maria recommends using a scalp brush, or your fingers, to really massage and exfoliate your scalp whilst washing your hair.
This stimulates blood flow whilst also dislodging your scalp's natural oils, allowing them to pass along the lengths of the strands, meaning hydrated hair from root to tip.
Adding this into your hair care routine also promotes hair growth – say hello to longer, luscious locks for summer!
